Senate Bill 857 Will Help Homeschool Families Financially Hurt by Covid-19

North Carolinians for Home Education favors Senate Bill 857, “Private School Families Tax Incentive.” We encourage homeschoolers to express their support for this bill to the senators who are members of the Committee on Rules and Operations of the Senate. (See contact information below.) This bill is designed to help families who have experienced an income loss due to Covid-19 keep their children enrolled in their private schools or homeschools. The Kids Will Be Okay

The Kids Will Be Okay

Photo: Austin Pacheco on Unsplash Homeschooling, zooming, building, crafting, and complaining? Yes, unfortunately, all the homeschooling has turned kids into little monsters. Gasp! What?! Kids are also exposed to TV, movies, video games and apps from an early age and may get left behind in the classroom and...

Goody Two-Shoes

Goody Two-Shoes

This may surprise some people, but I’ve been called a lot of things over the years and a lot of them weren’t even nice.  It’s even true to say that I was called things just today that would make some of you clutch your pearls and shake your head. One of the less vulgar of these, the one that inspired this writing, was “goody two-shoes”, something that I can say with some certainty is not a way that I’ve ever been described before. The origin of the phrase is a bit murky. There’s a poem by Charles Cotton in 1670 that...
