We finished May with graduations, and started off June with a graduation too. Even though Kennady's classes were completed in May, it was at the beginning of June that she received her diploma in a drive-through commencement at the community college. While the drive-through had a couple of obvious pros - casual dress and we could talk all the way through it if we wanted to, and shorter time overall - I think it's too bad that the college did not do the usual ceremony when they certainly could have. Anyway, Kennady now has her Associate of Fine Arts in Music and plans to finish her degree by transferring to Mount St. Mary's University for this fall.
My ongoing knee problems slowed me down, but hubby and I did manage to go on some walks in places other than down our own road.
Our church is completing another renovation project - the foyer is getting some updates. And Landon is working there sometimes. The current foyer and front rooms of the building were built onto the front of the original church building, so without those ceiling tiles in place, parts of the "Holiness Christian Church" designation above the original door could be seen.
For the Father's Day weekend, hubby and I went to Columbus.
Yes, there was coffee, but mostly we were there to see family - Harrison, Angela, and Veronica. Isn't she the sweetest?
She was fascinated by cicadas, and was making a little habitat for a couple she found at the playground!
There was little free library at the playground, but it was all jumbled and messy, so my inner librarian kicked in and I fixed it. Much more satisfying:
We also took an afternoon and went down to Dayton to the National Museum of the United States Air Force.
Spotted a place to go if you need more road:
On the way home, we stopped in West Virginia to get lunch at Biscuit World, because Harrison recommended it. It did not disappoint.
The following weekend, the kids all went to Columbus to visit their brother and have some adventures. Apparently they earned the new record time for their escape! (Then later on some of them got locked inside a karaoke booth, and they were not able to escape that until mall security came to break them out!)
We're ending the month with some record high temperatures, and I feel like this heron had the right idea wading in the creek. This was just after eight in the morning, and it was already in the high 80s.
What did you do in June? How are you staying cool?
By the way, you can see more of our museum visit here: An Air Force Museum PhotoJournal
