Six weeks after leaving China, Nicki Mayfield returns to complete two critical tasks: restore order at New Hope Orphanage and re-connect with the little girl who stole her heart. However, between a stubbornly stone walling supervisor, missing documents, and personal tragedy, Nicki faces challenges at every turn. Is she the best person to bring order – and longevity – to the place these children call home? Then, with the help of an unexpected ally, Nicki makes a life-altering decision that upends her well-planned life and the lives of those around her. Will she lose it all, or has she found the way to save what matters most?

Contemporary Christian Women's Fiction Books are one of my favorite genres to read. Perfectly Placed by Liana George is the most recent book from this genre that I have read. It is Book 2 in the Hopeful Hearts series. I have not read Book 1, YET. I do feel for this series it might help to read this series in order to get the whole feel for the story, but I also didn't have too much trouble following along.

Nicki Mayfield just returned from a trip to China and she is anxious to go back. She feels she still has some work to complete over there and heads back to China only 6 weeks after returning home. One of the tasks at hand for her is to get New Hope Orphanage out of Chaos and get them organized. Upon going through stacks of paperwork she discovers financial disarray. The Supervisior of the Orphanage isn't too kind to Nicki and it causes struggles. Nicki also encounters her own tragedy while in China and wonders if she is of value to the Orphanage. Nicki also is wanting to reconnect with a little girl who she befriended on her first trip to China. Nicki is getting very discouraged with all the "roadblocks" she is encountering. She gets help from an unexpected person that could be life altering. Will Nicki get the Chaos at the Orphanage under control? How will Nicki's life change after this second visit to China?

I was intrigued by this book from the very first chapter. I found Nicki to be a strong independent woman with a caring heart. She really wanted to see the Children at the Orphanage to be cared for properly and it concerns her when money is missing from the records. I LOVE her connection with the little Girl, Lei Ming. Nicki really had to rely on her faith and prayer to overcome so much throughout the book. I had never read any books by Liana George, but I am very excited to read this entire series. I plan on going back and reading Book 1 and looking forward to future books in this series. FANTASTIC BOOK!

More from Liana

Have you ever eaten at a Chinese restaurant and taken a fortune cookie with you when you left? Yeah, me too. For the longest time, I always associated these Pac-Man shaped treats with Chinese food and by extension, Chinese culture.

I was wrong.

The tsujiura senbei,” or “fortune cracker,” actually originated in Japan and was brought over to the United States sometime between the late 1800s and early 1900s by immigrants. Japanese bakers first began selling and making these crackers in California and Hawaii. With their unique taste and finger-sized slip of paper printed with a pithy fortune or aphorism, they quickly became a hit.

Today, the fascination with these cookies is still at an all-time high, but the ingredients have changed. Originally, they were made with miso and sesame flavoring but now they use butter and vanilla to give it that sweet taste you and I are so familiar with.

So, why am I telling you all this?

Because my novel, Perfectly Placed, book 2 in The Hopeful Heart Series, begins with the main character, Nicki Mayfield, breaking into a fortune cookie and discovering a proverb that will motivate her and move her to action. What was written on that tiny slip of paper? There’s only one way to find out. Grab a copy of Perfectly Placed – and a cookie or two – and start reading!
